History

Luigi Naccarato
The Patriarch

Luigi Naccorato copy with borderLuigi Naccarato started with MCG Construction as a carpenter in 1966. He worked on projects in small communities outside of Edmonton, Alberta for the first 13 years of his career, and spent most of his time away from home. Luigi spent so much time away from home, determined to build a strong foundation for his family, that a time came when his young son, Tony, did not recognize him. It was then that Luigi realized that he needed to make a change, and he put in his two week’s notice with MCG. Rather than accepting his resignation, MCG recognized Naccarato for his hard work, skills and experience by offering him a position that would allow him to come home every night.

Luigi was recognized by the initial ownership group for his strong workmanship and dedication to the company. He was promoted to foreman and then superintendent. He continued to improve and advance, all while overcoming a language barrier that he never let stand in his way. Luigi ultimately achieved his iron-workers ticket for steel buildings and became known for developing an excellent rapport with clients.

Over time, the original ownership group of MCG passed away or sold their interest in the company until it became a joint venture group. Meanwhile Luigi’s son, Tony, was graduating university and building his career. When a new partnership opportunity arose, Luigi was overjoyed asking him to return to Edmonton to run MCG Construction. Over the years, Tony bought out all of the partners until he was the sole owner.

Today, Luigi Naccarato is 75 years old and continues to go to work every day.

Tony Naccarato
Principle/CEO and President

Tony Naccarato copy with borderTony Naccarato’s history with MCG Construction began in his teenage years. He started working with MacCalder Construction Group in the summer of 1985 at the age of 15. He quickly developed a passion for the construction industry and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 1993. He took this degree to JGS Consultants where he worked on large Oriented Strand Board (OSB) plants, Port of Vancouver Container Handling Cranes, and other major Alberta and BC projects for three years. By 1996, Tony was a Professional Engineer, and he returned to MCG Construction Ltd. as a Project Manager, taking over as General Manager in 1997. He became a managing partner in the business by 2002, and was sole owner by 2010.

Tony is passionate about the design build sector of the construction business and uses his skills and knowledge to serve the unique needs of each client. He continues to seek out newer, better, and more affordable design and construction methods. It is this drive to consistently grow and improve that led Tony to the MCG Building Systems Integrated Strongwall System, an affordable concrete wall system with vast benefits over other methods of construction and design. Tony also believes in giving back to the community. He serves on the Alberta Metal Building Association (since 2000) and is Chairman for the President’s Advisory Council for Robertson Building Systems. From 2011 to 2014, he served as President at Kilkenny Community League, which offers a variety of community programs in Edmonton.
